Follow these simple steps to secure your WhatsApp Web experience.
Requirements
- Browser: Chrome or a Chromium-based browser (e.g. Edge), current stable version recommended.
- Site: The extension works only on WhatsApp Web (https://web.whatsapp.com). It does not support the WhatsApp desktop app or mobile app.
Installation Steps

Install the Extension
Add the extension to your Chrome or Chromium-based browser from the Chrome Web Store. After installing, the extension may refresh any already-open WhatsApp Web tab once so it loads immediately.

Open WhatsApp Web
Open web.whatsapp.com and log in (e.g. via QR code from your phone). Find the extension entry (e.g. a settings/gear icon or menu) in the WhatsApp Web sidebar. Click it to open the Settings panel (Privacy, Theme, Lock, General).

Configure Settings
- In Privacy / Blur: turn on blur for recent messages, contact names, avatars, etc.
- In Lock: set a PIN or password and enable the screen lock; optionally set lock-after-idle.
- In Theme: choose a preset or custom colors. Settings are saved locally and persist after reload.
